It is almost time for the number one event for all of us online PBEM roleplayers out there: the SciWorld Online Convention!
Last year was a lot of fun and I hope this year will be even better! Looking at the schedule, it looks like there are a couple of interesting seminars I will attend. What I especially have my eyes on right now are the chats scheduled for the third day: “Second Life” and “Why We Sim”.
Anyway, SciWorld is taking place online in a chatroom during three nights - Tusday, Wednesday and Thursday (April 29th - May 1st). Please check out www.sciworldonline.com for more info as well as the location of the chat rooms.

Although not entirely about the type of PBEM (play by email) games PBEMPlayers focuses primarily on, the Lone GM Blog is still full of interesting observations. He writes about another type of online roleplaying: what the Lone GM calls Play-By-Post games. So if rules, game systems and dice rolls are your thing, check it out!
If you are interested in joining a, or even running your own, Play By Post game you should read the Lone GM blog posts “How to play by post“ and “Building Characters that Work“

David “Onion” Ball has once again been kind enough to submit an interesting article to PBEMPlayers.com. The article talks about the importance of rules for PBEM games in general and more specifically when it comes to god-modding - a problem many game master and players of PBEM games face.

About 6 months about I made a blog post titled “PBEM Players statistics”. Now that 2007 is over I thought I’d give you an update. I am happy to say that the statistics still shows that PBEMPlayers.com is among the leaders of the PBEM community!
The number of visits compared to 2006 has increased by 57%, which is really great! Some of these visits are from links on high traffic sites with low quality of targeted visitors such as stumbleupon.com. Not counting any visits from such websites, we are still up by 48% compared to last year!
The bad news is that the visitors spend slightly less time on the site and viewed fewer pages. The last comparison, first half of 2007 against first half of 2006, showed we were up. However, when comparing the entire year against each other, we are down by a just a few percent. I believe there are two reasons for this: A lot of the visitors from websites such as stumbleupon.com click the link without being interested, therefore they go on to other websites after checking out the first page only. The other reason is the lower amount of new material posted lately.
Still, it is very clear the PBEM Players website is now established as one of the leaders of the PBEM community! Thank you all very, very much for your support!
