Code Problem

The site for my RPG is a wiki. (I figured it would be the easiest since I have zero technical knowledge when it comes coding.) Now, I join the link-ring to boost its Google rating. But as part of the membership you have to this 'button'/commercial on your site. Anyway, you should get this nice, neat button/link. But instead, I get this messy bundle of code. I think it's because the site is a wiki and the button is HTML, so....how to if fix this ?

Unfortunately you may not be able to fix it. When using wikis and blog sites, you are using a template that allows very limited formatting content - the idea is that the wiki or blog does all the HTML behind the scenes, and you only get to type text, insert pics and format those items using the options they give you.

Some HTML is allowed in posts made to sites like this, but even that only supports limited tags - you can try adding that blob of HTML to the bottom of your posts, but the chances are it won't support enough tags to work properly even there.

The only thing you can try is to look around the management side of your wiki account (the place where you make decisions about how it looks, colour schemes, posting permissions and that sort of thing) and see if it allows custom HTML for things like your logo - you may be able to sneak the button's HTML in with your logo, for example.

Hope that helps.

Good news, did a little futzing with the management side of my wiki and succeeded in fixing this problem. I still have no idea how, but it's fixed ! (So who cares ?) Thanks, JTeagle
