New PBEM question?

I have an idea and have much of the work done involving the layout of my next PBEM campaign...

I have an interesting question though - I want to focus the game around a single individual that first needs to be located and then released. The problem I want to introduce to the players is that his particular character (played by another real person) is psychotic on the extreme but is the key to the success of the campaign.

Is this too much to ask from other players or could/would they learn how to avoid the particular character or perhaps just not set the character off as they require her abilities...

But I want more to the story - at the climatic end of the key event I would want the bond between the characters to be strong enough that they don't just dispose of her after she succeeds in finishing the key event -- I know I can work it so that she is required after the key event is completed but I really don't like handwaving "magic" to solve everything...

Is it possible for a psychotic individual to bond on an outward basis to those that have strived to get that individual to the climatic event? I would not like the psychosis to just fade away, perhaps remnants of it still come to light perhaps...?

I know this is perhaps not the best medium to discuss questions such as these?

I think it would be problematic to ask a group to base their actions on you specifically.  However, if you can pull it off, I'd say go for it.

It sounds like you are suggesting a Quest game.  This could appeal to many.  You really need to sell it this way, I'd think.

I am a fan of Marvel Comics, for example.  So If someone said that their game was THOR:  The Elder God's Quest, I could definitely be interested in playing one of Thor's companions.

Does that help?
