What should PBEMPlayers.com do next?

What should PBEMPlayers.com do next?

Looking at the comments and other content that is posted to this site, it is obvious that there is a great interest in being able to post ads for games.

We would love to hear your opinion on this! Should game ads be the main focus of this site? If so, what type of features would you like to see?

I would love to see game ads become a major feature of the site.  The ability to provide a promo pic along with the link would be great.

In addition, it would be awesome if people looking could post their interest in a game, or game genre, so that GM's would have a specific place to look.  I've seen this on other sites, and I do review what people are looking for in a game.  I've been able to convert a few people based on a similarity to the one that I run, even though it might not be exactly it.

Okay, I'll admit. I came here for the advertising, but I only found this place through a role-playing forum. If you're going to be role-playing recruiters then you're going to need to get out there a little more in my view.

I'd love to see an advertisement stronghold, but I don't want to see a ratings system. Why? Because all to often they're biased! What I would like to see though is generally a sort of rotation around of different advertisements every so often, where some are brought to attention merely because they haven't been mentioned in a while. That'd certainly be cool.

Personally I'd focus on resources, what do Role-players need? Who comes? Where to find prospective role-players and the like. All of that would be useful information. ^_^

I'd like to see game announcements. It's hard to find a game if you're a player and hard to find players if you're a GM. One thing that this site could help with is providing a forum for GMs to bounce ideas off each other. I know I'd like that ability.

I like how it caters to the niche that pbem has become in the slightly larger roleplaying and simmin communities. But even my game isnt fully pbem, because we use Nova 2. A lot of my younger members rather not recieve email. Imagine that. To keep reaching that younger audience, would you consider including a section on forum rp? It is just a suggestion, because having this niche is nice.

I would also like to see this site get more active and more of a profile. I think it can be more active and a hub for people looking for and offering games.

Dae,

In my opinion, it does not matter if it is played by email or on a forum or using a system like Nova or Ongoingworlds. The basics are all the same, it 's about role playing and writing.

Back when I started, there were simming games on IRC and pbem on email. Those definitions stuck with me and now I really don't want to rename PBEMPlayers :-)

I welcome any and all games that indentify themselves as online roleplaying/writing games, perhaps I should write that somewhere?

I would definitely make that clearer. This site, and the community here, could offer a more mature crowd a good place to hang out. It is easy finding short-lived forums to rp on, pbemplayers could definitely provide focus for longer term games that require a longer attention span.

Actually, I thought of something else: for the game adverts. Rather than it being a copy paste from the link text (which to my shame I admit I kinda did), can you make it so it is more geared towards finding new players for a certain role or time period? If I had specified for instance I was looking for a first mate, and I later found one, that advert would be out of date. How would I make that clear? Just edit it in? Or could you maybe select a status 'actively looking' or 'advert on hold' or 'No longer valid'? Something like that?
