New version of PBEMPlayers.com!

After a long time, the new version of PBEMPlayers.com is finally online! With brand new design and an updated list of features it secures its place as one of the finest PBEM resource websites/portals on the web today.

The old version of PBEMPlayers.com was, to be honest, not the prettiest. It needed an updated theme and updated features. After a lot of development, I can now present to you the brand new version!

Design

I have done my best to keep some of the design features from the old version so that visitors will feel right at home. For example, the green color that followed the site from the very start is still there! It has been somewhat of a trademark of PBEMPlayers, something visitors recognize.
Going with the current trends, I have made the site narrower with a fixed width instead of the fluid width of the old site. While this can cause problems for visitors with smaller screen resolution (such as mobile phones and netbooks), the majority of the visitors are using a resolution that enables them to view the site without problems. If there is a demand for a mobile version, I will look into that later.

Features

While the number of possible features is endless, I had to start somewhere. I chose to focus on what the site has been all about from the start - articles and help. There are several PBEM sites out there that offers recruitment ads or serves as game platforms. I might go in that direction in the future, but for now I am happy to focus on this.

If you post an article, you have the option of adding a nice banner that links to your site. Is there a better way to earn recognition as a community leader? Don't think so!

The Q&A section is like a forum, ask away! But what good are questions if there are no answers, so be sure to help out your fellow PBEM players and answer or comment some of the questions!

If you want your game or PBEM site to be found you can add it to our link directory. There is now an extended possibility to write more about your site, and for visitors to comment on it.

Interaction

Comments are enabled throughout the site and I would like to encourage everyone to post your thoughts and interact using the comments.

I chose not to enable messaging within the site. My reasons for this is that most people have enough of communication channels without each and every site offering it. Email works fine. If the user has not disabled it, users can email eachother using contact forms thus keeping the email adress of the recipient secret until they choose to reply,

Each user can build a profile listing their PBEM experience and games using "Your profile". This is also where you can change your avatar image. This information is available to all visitors by clicking the username next to each piece of content.

The future

There are several new features planned, but my first goal is to get the site going like it is today. If you have any requests, ideas or comments in general please use the contact form to contact me!
